A 21-year-old youth allegedly raped and murdered his minor sister in a village near Paradip in Odisha's Jagatsinghpur district, police said today.
The youth after allegedly raping his sister on August 12 afternoon, hit her on the back of her head with an iron rod, they said.
"When she bled to death, the youth allegedly packed her body in a gunny bag and dumped it in a nearby water body," Inspector of Kujang police station, Bichitranand Samal said.

He committed the crime after his parents, who are contractual labourers at a private construction firm at Paradip, left home at Kathakota village in Odisha's Kendrapara district for work, police said.
"Finding his younger sister alone at home, the youth tortured her. As there were no houses in the neighbourhood, no one heard her cry for help. He allegedly killed the girl as she had threatened to make the crime public," Samal said.
"After throwing away his sister's body, the youth told his parents that the girl had gone to a friend's house. The parents lodged a missing complaint with the police the next day when the girl did not return home," he added.
The police later retrieved the victim's decomposed body from near the riverbed.
"During investigation the youth was detained and he confessed his crime during questioning," said Samal.
"A case was registered against him under IPC section 376 (rape), 302 (murder), 201 (destruction of evidence) and section 6 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act," he added.
He was arrested yesterday and remanded to judicial custody.
