A roadmap for repatriation of all the Brus lodged in relief camps in North Tripura district will be prepared as soon as the Centre releases fund for the purpose, an official of Mizoram home department said today.

A discussion among representatives of the Mizoram government, Tripura government and the Brus was held at Kanchanpur in North Tripura on the issue, Home department Additional Secretary Lalbiakzama told PTI.

A meeting convened by the Union Home Ministry on January 30 in Delhi had decided that attempts would be made to repatriate all the Brus in Tripura to Mizoram within six months.

Those who do not want to return will be allowed to remain in Tripura and their names will deleted from the voters' list of Mizoram, Lalbiakzama said.

It was also decided that the Centre would also stop doling out free ration and the relief camps would also be closed after expiry of six months.

In today's meeting, the Brus were led by Mizoram Bru Displaced People's Forum (MBDPF) Vice President Laldawngliana, General Secretary Bruno Msha and representatives of all the relief camps, while the Tripura government delegation was headed by the deputy commissioner of North Tripura district, the district SP and other officials.
