Singer Bryan Adams has been recruited to compose the music for the stage adaptation of iconic romantic comedy "Pretty Woman".

A musical version of the beloved 1990 film, starring Julia Roberts and Richard Gere, has been in the works for the past year, and director Garry Marshall is helping to bring the stage show to life, reported Contactmusic.

And during his appearance on US chat show "The Talk", Marshall gave an update on the process, revealing he has hired the best in music and Broadway for the project.

"I'm excited about it. We have the licensing to do it. We're going to do it independently, but we have a wonderful director, Jerry Mitchell, who did Kinky Boots and Hairspray. I don't direct Broadway musicals but he's great.

"And we've got composers, Bryan Adams and (his songwriting partner) Jim Vallance. Bryan's a very good composer.
