BSC to hold selection rally in Wellington

The Boys Sports Company (BSC) of Madras Regiment Centre, will hold a rally to select, groom and prepare potential talents for its select sports disciplines.

The rally for enrollment into BSC will be held at Wellington, about 70 kms from here, from December 19 to 24 for the age group of 11 to 14 years (born between December 1 2002 and December 1, 2005).

Outstanding sportsmen having attained the age of 15 and 16 years will be considered as exception cases based on their level of competence and participation in these sports discipline, a BSC release said here today.

School students who have participated in School Games Federaton of India level or equivalent sports events have to bring the certificates.
 

Physical fitness standards required for young talent will be 151 cm for 11 years, 153 cm for 12, 164 cm for 13 and 171 cm for 14 years.

Taller candidates will be considered, it said.

Minimum educational qualification will be a pass in 5th standard and those selected will be provided with free accommodation and education till class 10 besides sports training under the coaches of Sports Authority of India (SAI).

On attaining the age of 17 and half years, the young talents will have the option of enrollment in the Regiment through sports quota, based on their performance and subject to meet requirements laid down, it said.

BSC is a joint venture between SAI and Indian Army, and is responsible to nurture talent for boxing, volley ball and athletics by selecting candidates from Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
