Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited (BSCL) has launched an e-office to pave way for paperless work and efficient office management in city projects.
The e-office, inaugurated by BSCL's Chief Executive Officer (CEO) R Vineel Krishna recently, is an initiative that automates file and correspondence movement from its creation to archival, a senior BSCL official said.
The project will enable the smart city's office to go entirely paperless and reduce manual hand-offs and lead to higher efficiency.
As conventional files consume papers indirectly consuming plants, this e-office will be a green initiative to help conserve the natural ecosystem, he said.
The initiative would also ensure faster movement of files as the system could be monitored and any delays could be addressed, he said.

It would also streamline the processes across departments and agencies and reduce the time taken to move files from one department to another. The initiative will ultimately result in better inter-departmental coordination and cooperation, the official said.
The flow of the file from the initiator to different levels of the office could easy be monitored through e-office process, he said.
Similarly, alerts, notifications and auto reminders would facilitate faster execution of the files, he said.
Secured access to information through e-office will foster better collaboration and smarter decision-making as Bhubaneswar smart city has proposed in its mandate to use technology for growth and smooth decision-making.
"E-Office will be a smart tool to reshape the traditional file management system in BSCL office framework," the official added.
