Press Trust of India New Delhi
BSE, Asia's oldest bourse, today said it will include IDFC Bank and DCB Bank for trading in the securities lending and borrowing (SLB) segment from October 7.

The SLB mechanism allows short sellers to borrow securities for making deliveries.

"The securities (IDFC Bank and DCB Bank) shall be available for trading in the SLB segment with effect from October 7, 2016," BSE said in a circular.

According to Sebi guidelines, shares with an average monthly trading turnover of Rs 100 crore or more in the previous six months are eligible for trading in SLB segment.

Besides, shares with market-wide position limit (which indicates the investors' interest in a share) of at least Rs 100 crore are also eligible for the inclusion in SLB scheme.

Earlier this, the exchange had announced that it would launch futures and options (F&O) contracts in IDFC Bank, DCB from September 30. Currently, there are over 200 securities available in the F&O segment for trade.
