Power discom BSES has issued emergency helpline numbers for its consumers for complaints about rain-related breakdowns in the approaching monsoon.
Under the Monsoon action plan an integrated approach has been adopted under which steps have been taken to minimise moisture related break downs, said a BSES spokesperson.
"In case of an emergency, consumers can reach BSES through helpline numbers 1800 10 39707 (BRPL) and 41999808 (BYPL)," he said.
Rains come with unique problems like water logging, strong winds uprooting trees, falling branches that damage electricity installations resulting in outages.
"The Monsoon action plan has an integrated and proactive approach, which is not only aimed at ensuring consumers or installations safety, but also at minimizing the down time of power supply arising out of exigencies during Monsoon," he said.
Measures have been taken to reduce the incidence of moisture related breakdowns, including prevention of moisture accumulation in the grids and panels, increasing height of foundation of transformers in low lying areas, saving switchgear from seepage and moisture, and fencing around plinth and pole mounted transformers, he stated.
The discom has also issued an advisory for customers to take simple precautions to avoid electricity related mishaps during Monsoon, he said.
