BSES spends Rs 700 cr to sustain peak power demand

Power distribution company BSES has made a capital expenditure of over Rs 700 crore enabling it to sustain the immense peak power demand this summer.

The distribution company managed to meet the unprecedented load growth in recent days even as peak power deamnd reached up to 6,526 MW, by far the highest recorded in any city in the country, said a BSES official.

During the current year, the power distribution company invested a capex of around Rs 700 crore in its two arms -- BRPL (Rs 448 crore) and BYPL (Rs 252 crore) -- to strengthen infrastructure and adding a transformation capacity of around 600 MVA, the official said.
 

The discom caters to the power needs of two-third of the national capital, serving around 40 lakh customers across south, west, east and central Delhi.
