A Border Security Force constable was shot dead by suspected insurgents of National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) at Maldapara, a remote tribal hamlet near the Indo-Bangla border, in Dhalai district, the police said today.
"The incident took place last evening when a group of BSF personnel was patrolling at the border. Top police officers of the district went to the spot for investigation", SP, Police Control, Uttam Bhaumick told PTI.
The deceased was identified as Biswas Kumar (26).
Bhaumick said, BSF personnel also fired back and the ultras might have sneaked into Bangladesh after the strike.
