BSF creates shelter at Safdarjung hospital for patients' kin

Border guarding force BSF has created a 30-bed night shelter for the stay of the family members of poor patients getting treated at the Safdarjung hospital here.

The tented night shelters will have blankets, mattresses and television sets, a senior official said.

The shelters will be provided security and other logistics by a special team of Border Security Force personnel and it will help some of those who are not able to find a suitable boarding place near the hospital.

"The facility can be availed by any person who visits this hospital for getting treatment of their kin. The allotment of beds will done on the basis of names recommended by Safdarjung authorities," the official said.
 

The facility was jointly inaugurated by Renu Sharma, wife of BSF chief K K Sharma and para-Olympian athlete Devendra Jhajharia.

The Javelin thrower had become the first Indian to clinch two gold medals at the Paralympics after he broke his own world record to clinch the top honours at the Rio Games.

Devendra won his previous gold in the 2004 Athens Games.
