BSF DG flags off 'Project Darpan' under Civic Action Programme

Launching the project at the BSF complex at Salt Lake here, Joshi said such an initiative of the border force under its Civic Action Programme was in collaboration with three valued NGO partners - Mahavir Cleft Foundation, Smile Train and Rotary Club of Calcutta Victoria.

Describing the project as innovative under the leadership of Additional Director General of the BSF (East) B D Sharma, Joshi announced to extend this programme to other regions to improve relations between the BSF and border population.

On the occasion, Joshi met a number of children from border areas, who had successfully undergone this surgery free of any costs to rectify CLAP.

 

Joshi promised to organise a "Bharat Darshan" programme for these children soon after showcasing its success on December 1, the Raising Day of the border guards.

"On an estimate, in Eastern India alone, there are more than one lakh CLAP cases remaining to be rectified", the BSF sources said, adding that after this surgery a person could be able to return to mainstream life devoid of any social boycott or stigma.
