BSF IG of the Meghalaya Frontier, Sudesh Kumar gave away the power tillers, water tanks, almirahs, school furniture, sports and other items to the villagers.
Speaking on the occasion, Kumar said the BSF was trying to help the border villagers by giving them power tillers for cultivation in order to enhance their economy.
Stating that these assistance was not enough, he asked the villagers to inform him of their problems so that he could take it up with the state government.
Addressing the media on the sideline of the programme, Kumar expressed concern over the circulation of fake notes.
Stating that Bangladesh was being used as a transit route, he said "We need to identify its source in order to effectively tackle the problem."
On the smuggling of cow from India to Bangladesh, the BSF IG said there was a high demand for beef in the neighbouring country and the BSF were detecting the problem only at the end point.
Kumar suggested that state governments from which these cows were being taken out should handle the problem more effectively.
