J&K: Indian forces foil infiltration bid; 3 terrorists shot dead

Security forces on Friday foiled an infiltration bid along the international border in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir, killing three terrorists.

A jawan suffered minor injuries in the exchange of fire.

A senior Border Security Force (BSF) officer said a group of militants entered into the Indian side along the international border in Ramgarh sector of Samba district and the movement was picked up by BSF troops.

A firefight broke out after BSF troops challenged them, he said, adding that in the initial phase of encounter a jawan suffered minor injuries.

BSF troops put them under strict cordon near a water point in dense bushes in Chamliyal and in the fierce encounter, three terrorists were killed, he said.
 
"There was no loss of life to the BSF in the gunbattle", he said adding the infiltration was foiled.

The encounter has ended but combing operations are underway.
