A Pakistani national who accidentally crossed the border and who seemed to be mentally unstable was handed over to the Pakistan Rangers by the Border Security Force (BSF) today, officials said.

The Pak national was apprehended by a patrolling party of BSF's Gujarat Frontier yesterday evening at Vighakot along the border in Kutch.

He was 30 to 35 years old and wearing white kurta-pyjama, BSF said in a statement.

"The person appeared to be mentally unstable and unable to speak," it said.

"BSF jawans found nothing from his possession. It appeared that he entered the Indian territory due to his mental condition. Thus, on humanitarian ground, BSF held a flag meeting with Pak Rangers near the border and handed him over today afternoon," the release said.
