BSF jawan beaten up by cattle smugglers

A BSF personnel was injured today when a group of cattle smugglers attacked him with sharp-edged weapons during routine patrol in Nadia district along the Indo-Bangladesh border, police said.

"Anil Kumar of 119 battalion was seriously injured when smugglers attacked him during routine patrol along Indo-Bangla border at Natna this afternoon," SP Sabyasachi Ramon Mishra said.

The miscreants hit Kumar with sharp weapons when he intercepted them while they were trying to smuggle cattle.

He was rushed to the Shaktinagar hospital, where his condition is stated to be stable, the police said.

BSF officers have lodged a complaint against 12 people in this regard, and joint raids of police and BSF are going on in the border areas, Mishra said.
