BSF jawan comes to the rescue of officer's wife

A BSF jawan jumped into the Ranbir Canal in the city to save the life of an officer's wife.

The incident took place last evening when constable Amrender Pandey of 29 Battalion of BSF, who was on duty at Iron Gate of BSF Camp Paloura, saw the woman jumping in the canal flowing adjacent to the BSF campus, a BSF officer said today.

Pandey jumped into the canal and saved the woman who was pulled out in an unconscious condition.

Pandey, with the help of other guards stopped a vehicle and rushed the lady to GMC Hospital, the officer said.
 

It later emerged that she was the wife of a BSF officer posted at some other place.

On getting instructions from the BSF IG, the Commandant (Medical) also visited the hospital, where the condition of the woman is stated to be stable and out of danger, the officer said.

Further details are awaited.

BSF IG and other officers have praised the constable for saving the life of the woman.
