A BSF jawan was killed today when a stray bullet struck him at Tungi in Nadia district, close to Bangladesh border.
Balkrishnan (41) of 113 Battalion died when a bullet struck his forehead during discharging of duty at Tungi around 9 pm, DSP (HQ) Dibyojyoti Das said.
It was not yet clear whether he committed suicide or was hit by a shot from smugglers.
He was immediately rushed to Krishnaganj Hospital where he was declared brought dead.
