BSF jawan killed as rifle goes off accidentally

A BSF jawan was killed allegedly when his service rifle went off accidentally in the Gadigarh area here.

Border Security Force constable Raman Kumar, a resident of Gurdaspur in Punjab, who was posted at 78th battalion of BSF at Shergarh camp in Gadigarh area, was seriously injured when his service rifle went off accidentally in his unit yesterday, a police spokesman said today.

He was immediately shifted to Government Medical College (GMC) hospital where he succumbed to injuries, he said.

The body was handed over to BSF after the post mortem, he said adding that a case has been registered and investigation was on.
