BSF jawan kills self in Chhattisgarh

A 36-year-old BSF jawan allegedly committed suicide today by hanging himself at the forces' camp in Chhattisgarh's Kanker district, police said.

The incident was reported at around 11 AM when the constable S Shaktiven was found hanging in the toilet of the hospital inside the camp of BSF's 44th battalion in Antagarh, a senior police official said.

A resident of Tamil Nadu, Shaktiven was posted with 140th battalion at Koyalibeda region and had been reportedly suffering from a kind of illness for some time, the officer added.

According to police, the victim had been visiting Antagarh camp hospital for the treatment.
 

"An inquiry has been ordered to ascertain the reasons for Shaktiven taking the extreme step. The local police has registered a case," he added.
