A BSF jawan allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with his service gun while on duty in Ramgarh area in Rajasthan's Jaisalmer district today.
Twenty-year-old Udaibhan was on duty at Bhawani Chauki near the Pakistan border when the incident happened, officials said.
Hailing from Rajasthan's Jhunjhunu district, he had just joined duty after returning from leave, they said.
The reason that forced him to take the extreme step was not immediately ascertained, the officials said.
In Bikaner, a murder convict, lodged in Hanumangarh Jail, died in a hospital after protracted illness, police said.
Gurudayal Singh was rushed to the hospital on September three, they said.
The body was handed over to his relatives after post mortem, police said.
