BSF lodges protest over Pak firing

"We have lodged a strong protest in writing with Pakistani Rangers for unprovoked firing in civilian areas along the International Border (IB) in Chechwal forward area of Samba sector", a BSF officer said today.

The protest note was handed over to the Pakistan authorities by the Commanding Officer of 9th battalion of BSF, V P Singh, along with pictorial evidence.

Pakistani Rangers had fired on forward BSF posts and civilian areas in Chechwal area on October one in which a couple Krishna Devi and her husband Kulwant Singh, a Special Police Officer (SPO) were injured.

Pakistani Rangers fired on forward posts in Chechwal area again today triggering panic among the residents in Samba district.

 

Chechwal forward area of Samba district along the Indo-Pak border made headlines after a 550-meter tunnel from Pakistan into the Indian territory was detected by BSF troops with the help of villagers on August 27.
