The BSF, in a joint operation with the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and district police, today arrested one person and seized over 600 gm of narcotics from a house in the border area of Farakka in Malda district.
Acting on a tip off regarding movement of smugglers with consignment of narcotics near the border area of Farakka, a special operation was lauched today at around 00.30hours, a release from the BSF said.
"At about 01.45 hrs, troops of 24 Bn BSF alongwith local Police- Gulabganj and NCB officials- Kolkata launched a search operation at the house of one Bakul Mia (40) and seized four packets containing light-yellow colour substance, each weighing approximately 100 gms," the release said.

Another four packets with brown colour substances, each weighing approximately 50 gms, were also seized, it added.
These packets, totally weighing 630 grams, is suspected to be heroin, the release said adding that the operation party immediately took custody of Bakul Mia, also the owner of the house.
Incidentally, during this year, the BSF- South Bengal Frontier seized a total of 1965 gm of narcotics and apprehended three smugglers, the release stated.
