BSF officer dies in accidental fire in Jammu, another injured

The sniper fire hit an Inspector and a Sub-Inspector

An officer of Border Security Force (BSF) was killed and another officer was injured in an accidental sniper firing in the district today.

"There was an accidental sniper fire from a weapon of an officer while travelling in a vehicle in Indreshwar Nagar BSF Headquarter, in R S Pura border belt of Jammu district today", a BSF officer said.

The sniper fire hit an Inspector and a Sub-Inspector, he said, adding it hit vital parts of the Inspector, resulting in his death.

The Sub-Inspector, who was injured in the incident has been admitted to Government Medical College (GMC) hospital for trearment, the officer said.
 
The officers have been identified as Inspector Ratiram and Sub-Inspector Ram Ji Thakur, he said.

"There is no foul play in the incident and it is a case of accidental sniper fire", the officer said, adding the incident did not took place on the International Border (IB) belt but in-depth area at R S Pura BSF headquarter.
