A 65-year-old abducted man was rescued by BSF from the clutches of kidnappers when they were trying to shift him near Fakirakona in South Garo Hills district along the Indo-Bangla border, a BSF official said today.

The incident took place when BSF challenged the abductors on the zero line yesterday. While fleeing they left behind former school teacher Robinson R Marak, he said.

Marak had been kidnapped from his residence in Chambalgiri village on December 17 last.

According to the official, earlier on December 29, one kidnapper was killed along the international border of BOP Debram in a joint operation launched by BSF and police, while they were trying to get Marak released.
