BSF seized Rs 1,610 cr worth heroin on Indo-Pak border in 2013

Over 300 kg of heroin worth over Rs 1,610 crore in international market was seized last year on the Indo-Pak border here by BSF, besides the arrest of 67 narcotic smugglers who were attempting to cross over to India.

Ten smugglers were also shot down in gun battles between them and security personnel, said Ajay Kumar Tomar, Inspector General of Border Security Force (BSF), Punjab Frontier.

"Last year, 322 kgs of heroin worth Rs 1,610 crore in the international market was seized by the BSF personnel. Fake Indian currency having a face value of over Rs 52 lakh was also recovered from the smugglers," Tomar said.
 

The BSF personnel have also seized a huge cache of arms and ammunitions in 2013, he added.

Of the 10 killed, three were Pakistan nationals, two were infiltrators and three from India, he added.
