BSF seizes four country made pistols in Malda district

Border Security Force troops seized four country made pistols along with eight magazines and 19 live rounds of ammunition from Churiantpur area in Malda district close to the Bangladesh border, according to BSF sources.

A BSF special ambush party observed suspicious movement on both sides of Indo Bangladesh Border fence near Border Outpost (BOP) Churiantpur Kaliachak police station on Tuesday night. One Indian miscreant came close to the fence. He tried to throw a packet (potla) over the fence and same was to be collected by Bangladeshi miscreants, a BSF release said.

Immediately, BSF ambush party challenged and tried to catch the miscreants but he managed to escape from the spot. After through search of the area, party recovered one packet containing four country made Pistols (calibre 7.65 mm) along with eight magazines and 19 live rounds of 7.65 mm.
 

The seized items have been handed over to Kaliachak police station for further investigation and legal action.

During this year the BSF South Bengal Frontier has seized 17 pistols along with 18 magazines and 40 live rounds and apprehended two smugglers, the release added.
