Border Security Force (BSF) personnel today seized over 500 gm of heroin, hidden in iron rods, in the area under Border Out Post Basti Ramlal of Ferozepur sector here.

During a search operation, the BSF jawans recovered the two iron rods, about one foot-long and each filled with heroin. The heroin weighs about 575 gm.

These rods were concealed beneath soil in the field ahead of the border security fence, a BSF official said.

The enhanced vigil of BSF troops has thwarted another attempt of smugglers to smuggle contraband items into India, the official said.

The BSF has so far seized 91.181 kg of heroin near Indo- Pak border areas this year.
