Opposition BSP today created an uproar in Legislative Council over alleged misbehaviour by a senior SP leader with a woman passenger on board the Padmawat Express, leading to adjournment of Question Hour.

As soon as the House proceedings started, BSP members rushed into the well raising slogans against the state government.

As the uproar continued, chairman Ganesh Shanker Pandey first adjourned the House for half an hour, which was extended by 10 minutes and later till 12 noon.

62-year-old Chandra Nath Singh was deboarded from the train at Shahjahanpur Railway Station late last night after a woman alleged the former MP from Machlishahr had misbehaved with her and was in an inebriated state.

The senior SP leader and former MP was briefly detained by Government Railway Police after the woman registered a complaint.

He was set free within hours of being detained as the girl withdrew her complaint.
