"We make a strong demand for re-organisation of the state to ensure equilateral development in three regions of Jammu and Kashmir", BSP national general secretary and MP Narinder Kashyap told reporters here today.
Jammu and Kashmir regions should be given separate status of states and Ladakh be made a Union Territory to ensure equilateral development and economic activity in the three regions, he said.
To ensure equilateral development, Kashyap said, there is a need for re-organisation of the state for equal opportunity in governance and economic activities.
He said the people of Jammu and Ladakh regions have been always been making complaints and resorting to protests over regional discrimination with them.
The BSP leader said the state has three separate regions of Jammu, Ladakh and Kashmir, which are totally different from each other in terms of geographical area, climate and demographical status.
Kashmir and Jammu enjoy six months status of capitals and the governance apparatus of Civil Secretariat, Legislature and other offices but Ladakh is totally neglected, Kashyap alleged.
He demanded that the state Legislature pass a resolution for re-organisation of the state and send it to the central government. (More)
