BSP workers led by Leader of the Opposition in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly, Swami Prasad Maurya today staged dharna to protest dismantling of outer boundary wall of Bhim Rao Ambedkar Memorial in Gomti Nagar, a pet project of erstwhile Mayawati government.
"The demolition was carried out late in the night to keep everyone in the dark...It is an act guided by political vendetta," Maurya said.
Addressing partymen, senior BSP leader Naseemudin Siddiqui said razing of the wall "amounted to humiliation" of dalits and the Samajwadi Party will have to pay a price for it.
Late last night Uttar Pradesh Bridge Corporation carried out the exercise to clear way for an underpass providing direct access to Janeshwar Mishra Park -- a project close to Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav -- and giving relief to residents of the colonies in the Gomti Nagar area.
