Opposition BSP today created a ruckus in Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council over alleged involvement of SP members in the Etawah incident in which a garland of shoes was put on a couple and they were later paraded in the village.

The BSP members stormed into the Well of the House raising anti-government slogans which led to multiple adjournments.

At the beginning of the Zero hour, Leader of the Opposition Naseemuddin Siddiqui raised the issue alleging that in the native district of Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, a garland of shoes was put on an upper caste couple and they were paraded in the village allegedly by SP workers.

Yesterday, a family in Santoshpura village of Etawah district claimed that their girl was lured by an upper caste boy. The girl's family allegedly manhandled Chandra Mahesh and Urmila Devi, parents of the boy, put garland of shoes on them and paraded them in the village.

Police had lodged an FIR against five persons, including Raj Bahadur, father of the girl, in this regard.

Chairman Ganesh Shanker Pandey requested the members to take their benches, but when the uproar continued he adjourned the house initially for 10 minutes, which was extended twice by 15 minutes and 10 minutes and later till 3 PM.
