"The project was scrapped by Uttar Pradesh government and in a recent board meeting Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority excluded the project from its Master plan 2031," Gautam Buddha Nagar MP Surinder Singh Nagar told PTI.

Both Greater Noida and Yamuna Expressway authorities have sold their properties highlighting the airport project, he said adding, "I am writing to UP Chief Minister to reconsider the Jewar airport project."

The airport project at Jewar, which is less than 100 kms from Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi, has not been given clearance as it flouted the rule that no airport can be constructed within 150 km from an existing airport.

"The project was in final stages of approval from the Centre. Samajwadi Party government, however, in a haste shelved the project and shifted it to Mathura," Nagar said.
