BTAD Elections to be held in last part of March this year

The Assam State Election Commission is planning to schedule the 3rd Bodoland Territorial Area District (BTAD) elections before the tenure of the present council ends on April 23 this year, said a government release.

The Commission today called an all-party meeting presided over by State Election Commissioner, Assam, H N Bora to discuss the various aspects related to the election to the 40 constituencies of the BTAD.

Bora briefed about the scheduling of elections in the last part of March so that the new council takes over before Bohag Bihu in early April next, the release said.

The meeting was attended by IGP (Law and Order) S N Singh, Principal Secretary (Bodoland Territorial Council) Dr Anupam Kumar Roy, government officials and representatives from different political parties, it added.
