BTech student feared drowned at Rushikonda beach

Friendship Day turned tragic for a group of five friends who went swimming at Rushikonda beach under PM Palem police station limits in the city today evening, after one of them is feared to have drowned.

According to the police, Yashwanth, Vinod, Aravind, Vamsi and Ahmed Eliyas, who are all BTech students of Gayatri College had gone to the beach to celebrate Friendship Day.

While they were swimming, second year chemical engineering student Ahmed Eliyas, who is native of Rajahmundry town was caught in a strong current which took him deep into the sea.

Based on a complaint police inspector of PM Palem S Appala Raju and his team began a search for the missing Ahmed Eliyas, while the marine police also joined the search.
