The Maharashtra unit of an OBC organisation, which represents the Tailik community, today demanded 52 per cent quota for overall OBC population.

A meeting of Bhartiya Tailik Sahu Rathore Mahasabha (BTSRM), chaired by Somabhai Modi, elder brother of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, was held here today.

"Deprived sections of the society ought to be given utmost priority. Such sections can be found in our community too," Somabhai said.

He also said that the community should promote education for all regardless of gender and keep away evils such as alcoholism.

Ram Narayan Sahu, national president of BTSRM and former MP, demanded 52 per cent reservations in jobs and education for the OBCs.

The community had lots of expectations from Narendra Modi as he himself belongs to the community, he said.

Advocate Eknath Bawankar, head of Maharashtra chapter of BTSRM, said a national-level rally was proposed to be held in Delhi by the end of year, to which the Prime Minister would be invited as the chief guest.
