Bud 2018-19: Ministry of Drinking Water granted Rs 22,356.6 cr

The Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation was today granted Rs 22,356.60 crore, registering an increase of 11.72 per cent, in the Union Budget 2018-19.

The ministry was allocated Rs 20,010.79 crore in the previous budget.

Under the centrally sponsored schemes, the National Rural Drinking Water Mission has got a boost of 15.7 per cent. The scheme was allocated an amount of Rs 7,000 crore, compared to Rs 6,050 crore last year.

The Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM), flagship programme of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, got Rs 300 crore for its information, education and communication services in rural areas.

The popular scheme was also allocated Rs 5 crore towards human resource development.
