Buddha Purnima: Prayers at peepal tree planted by Dalai Lama

Buddhist monks and followers held a prayer in front of a peepal tree planted by the Dalai Lama here at Nehru Park in Chankyapuri on the occasion of Buddha Purnima today.

The ceremony was organised by the Rishi Valmik Samaj Sewa Dal, which said that the prayer was performed for peace and joy in the world.

On the occasion, a drawing competition for children was also organised.

Earlier in the day, a prayer was held by Buddhist monks before Buddha's relics at the National Museum at Janpath which was attended by MP Ramdas Athawale and the Sri Lankan High Commissioner to India, Sudarshana Seneviratne.
