Budget against the interest of Uttarakhand: Ruling Congress

The ruling Congress in Uttarakhand today alleged that the Centre has adopted step-motherly treatment towards the state in the Union budget as it has made no provision for green bonus and also not allotted funds for reconstruction work of char dham yatra route.

"The budget puts beyond doubt the Centre's step-motherly attitude towards Uttarakhand. Despite repeated requests of the Chief Minister (Harish Rawat) no provision has been made in the budget for a green bonus to the state.

"No allocations have been made in it for either reconstruction work on char dham yatra route or preparations for the ardha kumbh," Pradesh Congress Committee President Kishore Upadhyay said.

The party described the general budget as "disoriented, regressive and against the interests of the hill state".

"This budget will lead to price rise and add to the burden on common man.

"Provisions of this budget will ensure that the country's growth rate does not reach double figures and employment opportunities don't increase," Upadhyay claimed.

Terming it as a mere "jugglery" with figures, Upadhyay said it is "disoriented, regressive and against the interests of Uttarakhand".
