: The budget session of Puducherry Assembly is slated to begin on March 11 with the customary address by Lt Governor Lt General (retired) A K Singh.

The date of submission of the budget for the 2015-2016 fiscal will be decided at a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee that day, official sources said.

The Assembly has 30 elected and three nominated legislators.

The ruling AINRC has a strength of 15 on its own (including the Speaker). The Rangasamy led government enjoys the support of an Independent V M C Sivakumar from outside.

On the oppositon side, Congress has a strength of seven legislators, AIADMK has five and DMK has two legislators.

Of the three nominated legislators two belong to AINRC while BJP has one member. The three nominated members were inducted in September 2014 after the Lok Sabha poll when AINRC formed an alliance with BJP and successfully fought the poll.

There has been sustained plea from the opposition that the budget session be held for a considerably long period instead of holding it just for 10 days as done in the past.

In response to the plea the session was likely to be held till the second week of April, the sources said.
