Police in Andhra Pradesh's Khammam district today shot dead a buffalo after it killed a farmer and started attacking villagers and police personnel.
A buffalo bitten by a dog goes berserk and attacked people in Nagaram village of Palvancha mandal over the past three days and gored to death a farmer, Ranga Rao (55) yesterday, while he was working in his field,police said.
The buffalo again started attacking villagers and the policemen this morning when they were conducting inquest in connection with the farmer's death, a police official said.
In order to prevent any untoward incident, police fired five rounds at the buffalo and killed it, the official said.
Palvancha police booked a case and were further investigating.
