A middle-aged person was badly injured after unknown miscreants allegedly hurled bombs at him while he was returning home last night in the Maniktala Police Station area, the police said today.

The incident happened last night at around 11.30 PM when a builder Goutam Basak (53) was returning home and while crossing the Ultadanga Main Road and Canal East Road, unknown miscreants with arms chased the two-wheeler he was riding, the victim has alleged in his complaint lodged with the Maniktala Police Station.

The miscreants chased him for several hundred metres before hurling bombs at him following which he fell down from his bike and was badly injured, a senior police officer said.

"Hearing the sound, local residents came out and the miscreants fled. They informed the police and Basak was taken to the hospital," he said adding CCTV footages were being checked to spot the miscreants.

The victim was undergoing treatment at a hospital, he said.
