Burglar gang busted, three arrested with stolen items

Jammu and Kashmir Police today claimed to have busted an inter-district gang of burglars by arresting three persons including a resident of West Bengal and recovered a large quantity of stolen items from them in Kulgam district.

The gang was busted following investigation into three cases of burglaries in Devsar area of Kulgam, 70 kms from here, during the past two months, a police spokesman said.

He identified the arrested burglars as Gulzar Ahmad Mir, Nisar Ahmad Malla of Chak Sangran village of Shopian district and Mokil Khan of West Bengal.

"The fourth member of the gang, Mohammad Arif Dar alias Ran of Ashmuji (in Kulgam), is still at large," the spokesman said adding efforts are on to arrest him.
 

Thieves had struck two shops and girls high school in Devsar during the past two months and had decamped with ready-made garments, sanitary fitting items and computers, the spokesman said.

He said the stolen property was recovered and the two private cars used by the burglars were also seized.

During questioning the burglars disclosed that the gang was active in the south Kashmir districts of Anantnag, Kulgam, Pulwama and Shopian, the spokesman said .

"They revealed that their gang operated in various areas including Achabal and Anantnag town in Anantnag; Pampore and Rajpora in Pulwama; Yaripora in Kulgam and Zainapora area of Shopian district," the spokesman said adding more recoveries and arrests are expected.
