Burglars fail in bid to decamp with jewellery from coop bank

: Burglars failed in their attempt to steal 350 sovereigns of gold jewellery from a cooperative society bank at Bethanaikenpatty village last night as they could not break the iron box in which the money was kept, police said.

Acting on a complaint from society Assistant secretary Selvaraj, police rushed to the spot with sniffer dogs.

The bank did not have a watchman, CCTV or any other alarm, police said.
