Burglars strike at mobile phone shop in Jammu

A group of burglars today struck at a mobile phone shop here and decamped with phones worth Rs 13 lakh, officials said.

A CCTV footage shows the gang of seven thieves, some of whom were masked, breaking the lock of the shop around5.15 amafter blocking the view of the commuters, using a long cloth, they said.

One of the gang members entered the shop and comes outwithin 15 minuteswith mobile phones and leaving the spot, the officials said.

"We have taken cognisance of the incident and efforts are on to bring the culprits to book and recover the stolen goods," Incharge of the police station Neelam Saini told PTI.
 

She said mobile phones worth Rs 13 lakh were looted from the shop.

"We have seen the CCTV footage and it appears that the gang members are from outside. We are hopeful of working out the case in the coming days," the official said.

Ravi Kant, the owner of the shop, said mobile phones worth Rs 18 to 20 lakh were stolen from the shop.

"I was moving through the area around6 amwhen I noticed the shutter of the shop damaged and immediately lodged a complaint with the police," he said.

Police station Nawabad has registered a case in this connection, they said.
