A sweeper, who noticed it, rang up the registry clerk, who rushed to the office only to find that Rs 2,95,620 had been missing.

"The money was Thursday collection of registration and other fees and was to be deposited in the treasury yesterday," Superintendent of Police Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh said.

"Burglars had entered the complex after scaling the wall at the back of the residential area. A case has been registered in this regard " he added.
