Burglers steal jewellery, cash, documents from bank lockers

A group of burglars have stolen jewellery, cash and documents from lockers of a nationalized bank in Charhi Branch in Hazaribagh district, a senior police officer today said.

The burglars entered the bank late last night by breaking locks of the main entrance and looted jewelleries, cash and documents kept in lockers, Superintendent of Police, Akhilesh Kumar Jha, said.

He said the burglars have cut open nine lockers with the help of gas cutters and stole jewelleries, cash and valuable documents of the customers.

The crime was detected this morning when the bank was opened, he said adding that the exact worth of jewellery and cash stolen was yet to be evaluated.
 

Details of deposit made by the victim customers was being sought, he said adding that the bank authorities have already informed them about the theft.

The forensic experts have taken the finger prints of the criminals, police said.
