Bus collides with truck, 1 killed

One person was killed while nine others were injured when a bus collided with a truck and fell into a ditch on the Anandpur Sahib-Nangal road near Ropar today, police said.

The bus was on its way to Chandigarh when the mishap took place.

"A roadways bus of the Una depot coming from Haroli in Himachal collided with a truck on Anandpur Sahib-Nangal road. The bus then skidded off and fell into a ditch resulting in the death of a 77-year-old man," Ropar Police Assistant Sub Inspector, Sanjeev Kumar said over phone.

He said nine persons were injured in the accident including the driver of the truck.
 

"The passengers told us that that the bus driver was driving in a rash manner and failed to control the vehicle which fell into the ditch after hitting the truck," Kumar said.

The bus driver fled from the spot.

A case has been registered.
