Bus depot cashier shot dead, cash looted

Armed robbers shot dead a cashier of a bus depot here today and made away with over Rs 3 lakh that he was planning to deposit in a bank.

Wasiulla Khan (50), cashier of Lakhimpur roadways bus depot, was going to deposit cash in a bank on the hospital road this morning when robbers opened fire on him from close range and escaped with his bag containing Rs 3,17,000 cash, DySP Avneshwar Chand Srivastava said.

Khan died on the spot while his driver, Vimal, who had accompanied him sustained injuries and was rushed to the district hospital, the officer said.
 

Srivastava said teams have been constituted to nab the culprits and recover the looted money.
