Himachal Pradesh government today indicated a hike in bus fares was possible anytime in view of increased operational costs.
Replying to queries, Transport Minister G S Bali said indeed there was a strong case of hike in bus fares due to increase in diesel prices and cost of operation but "as of now there is no proposal for hike in fares but it can happen any time".
The cumulative losses of HRTC have crossed Rs 600 crore and its monthly liability on account of salaries and diesel was about Rs 40 crore, he added.
