The six survivors of the tragic bus accident in Andhra Pradesh two days ago are recovering at a private hospital here.

Yogesh Gowda, who was in a critical condition after suffering 45 to 50 per cent "thermal burns with respiratory burns", is breathing by himself today, the Apollo Hospital DRDO said in a medical bulletin.

Gowda, a golf coach, is "maintaining oxygen saturation and (his) vitals are also stable, but prognosis is guarded," it said.

Jai Singh, who suffered six per cent burns in the mishap, was discharged today.

The condition of four other survivors is stable, the bulletin added.

Forty five passengers, including a baby girl, lost their lives and seven others suffered burns when the fuel tank of a Volvo bus exploded after hitting a culvert near Palem on Bangalore-Hyderabad national highway in Mahabubnagar district on October 30.

The state transport department continued its drive against private buses for any violations of rules, official sources said.
